The high tech, carbon bodied, electric sports car from BMW‘s ‘i’ brand, i8 will make it’s India debut at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It will be the highlight of BMW India’s hall during the Expo in February.
BMW India showcased the i8 prototype in India back in May 2011, as the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics concept car. The production version of i8 was launched last year, and it has been a success as the first year lot has been already booked. Sadly, there are no plans of launching the i8 in India.
Showcasing the latest in technolotu, i8 features performance of a sports car and efficiency of a compact car. BMW i8’s 1.5 liter three cylinder petrol engine along with its electric motor produces a combined 362 hp and 570 Nm output. i8 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds while top speed is limited electronically at 250 kmph. As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, in hybrid mode, the i8 delivers 40 kmpl.
Alongside the BMW i8, the company will also be showcasing its 3 Series GT and 3rd generation X5 at 2014 Auto Expo being held in Greater Noida from February 6-12, 2014.
