Skoda, according to reports, has begun work on the next-generation model of the Superb saloon.
The new Skoda Superb will be a "revelation" according to Winfried Vahland, Chairman, Board of Directors, Skoda Auto. The new car will be based on the VW Group’s MQB platform and will have nearly half its components common with the Volkswagen Passat.
It is expected that, like most of Skoda's range, the new Superb's dimensions will be different from the class norm.
The next-generation Superb will continue to be offered as a saloon and an estate (for international markets), although the saloon will drop the dual saloon/hatchback tailgate boot opening.
Skoda is focussing on lighter weight, better fuel economy and improved aerodynamic efficiency and the largest motor on offer in the new car will be a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine.
