Frustrated that Flappy Bird is gone? Cry not! A new as addicting, as simple, and as frustrating game has hit the mobile gaming space. Haven't heard of "2048" yet?<br style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" /><span style="float: left; list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">(Photo : Mikael Co)</span></div>
</div>
</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
<br />The new game on the mobile gaming space is named simply as<em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">2048</em>.  It can be seen as a game for math lovers but essentially anyone who can recognize numbers will be able to play the game.While the creator of<em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"> </em><em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"> Flappy Bird</em>  has announced that the sensational game might make a much-awaited comeback soon, there is another game that is gaining a lot of buzz.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
It does not involve any amazing graphics but just numbers popping up on a minimalist, four by four grid. The objective is to combine tiles sporting the same number until you get a tile that shows "2048."</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
Simple, right? No.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
Just like<em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"> Flappy Bird</em>, it looks utterly simple but far from being simple. It is free. It is addicting. It is frustrating. The game demands a lot of patience and gray matter working to win.  </div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
Those who will be playing on their computers just need to press the arrow keys while those on their mobile devices will have to just swipe their screens to move the "2," "4", "8," "16," and so on tiles to add them up together . So, if the gamer can move the "2" and "2" next to each other and push one to the other, that will add up to become "4." Player needs to do that to matching tiles until one tile shows "2048."</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
There are no <em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Super Mario </em> green pipes or a cityscape background but just like<em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Flappy Bird, 2048</em> is designed to be frustrating enough. Players will not see a bird hitting a pipe or hearing a thud as it falls flat face to the ground but the screen will simply show "Game Over"-- over and over again until you solve the puzzle.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
The new gaming craze was created by Gabriele Cirulli, a young programmer who lives in northern Italy. The game clearly takes inspiration from Veewo Studio's <em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">1024 </em>and Asher Vollmer's<em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Threes</em>.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
"I like to look at the things I use daily and ask myself questions such as 'Is this good enough?', or 'How could I improve it?'. Something that 'just works' isn't good enough for me. The design and user experience of the tools I use plays a very important role for me, and this aspect of my personality is reflected in my work, too. Almost-maniacal attention to detail is one of my flaws and strengths," wrote the 19-year-old programmer on his website.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
"I taught myself a great portion of the things I know, such as the English language and Design and Development for the Web, and I keep learning new things every day. I love to design and build products that look good and express their philosophy through their visual aspect. I also have a devotion to good typography," Cirulli added.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
Whether Cirulli will be like Flappy Bird creator Dong Nguyen who will pull out his creation when it starts to affect people's productivity or life in general is not for certain.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
As of reporting, the website of the official version of <em style="list-style: none; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">2048</em> has been tweeted almost 75,000 times. On Google Play Store, it has been reviewed 9,411 times and has been recommended by almost 2,500 people.</div>
<div style="list-style: none; margin-bottom: 20px; padding: 0px;">
The statistics on how many smartphones and tablet screens have been thrown onto floors by their owners-- not yet in.</div>

Following the removal of Flappy Bird app from online stores by its creator Dong Nguyen, Apple and Google are having a rough time turning down gamers, mimicking the popular game by adding "Flappy" to their creations.</div>

The app was pulled off app stores after a whirlwind success story spanning over a few weeks, where the app became the number one free game in not just the iOS App Store but also the Google Play Store.</span></div>
<div class="b20open MT15" style="border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif; font-size: 20px; line-height: 36px; margin: 15px 0px 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Flappy Bird was earning its Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen $50,000 a day but it was reportedly no consolation for his “peace and quiet”. Instead of riding the roller coaster of a successful game that could have followed the footsteps of Candy Crush Saga and Angry Birds, Nguyen decided to chuck it all out and pulled out the game from stores.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Of course, this was not a good enough explanation for Flappy Bird fans who were distraught enough to even send out <a href="http://tech.firstpost.com/news-analysis/crazed-flappy-bird-fans-threaten-to-kill-maker-for-pulling-game-217946.html" style="border: 0px; color: #ee543f; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;" target="_blank"><strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">death threats</strong></a> to Nguyen. However, if you’re the kinds who are patiently waiting for something similar to come your way, fret not, since developers around the world have already come up with replacements of all kinds for the silly, impossible game.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">

<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
Wow. Mashing up the meme of the year and the game of the year can do you no harm. The flash game you can play on your PC has a Flappy Bird that has a Doge like face. Exactly like Flappy Bird, you need to guide the Doge-faced bird through pipes and make high scores. Fly your Shiba Inu faced Doge-Bird into a pipe and you’ll be told that the game is “Much Over”. We only wish the Doge would go “Wow” every time it scored.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The only issue with <a href="http://www.dogetek.co/game/" rel="nofollow" style="border: 0px; color: #ee543f; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;" target="_blank"><strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Flappy Doge</strong></a> is that handling the controls here are far more frustrating compared to Flappy Bird. Fun while it lasts and a must-see for Doge fans.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<a href="http://stech2.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/flappy-doge.jpg" style="border: 0px; color: #464646; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;"><img alt="Wow" class="size-full wp-image-218025" data-original="http://stech2.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/flappy-doge.jpg" height="360" src="http://stech2.firstpost.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/flappy-doge.jpg" style="border: none; display: inline; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: middle;" width="640" /></a><br />

Oh, this game will get you good, it will really get you good. So you thought you were a maverick when it came to maneuvering the bird between pipes? This game will test your multitasking abilities to the hilt. It’s yet another game for the PC but you’ll see why.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The only way to maneuver the bird in <a href="http://www.mrspeaker.net/dev/game/flappy/" rel="nofollow" style="border: 0px; color: #ee543f; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;" target="_blank"><strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Flappy Bird Typing Tutor</strong></a> is by typing out words that appear on the screen. However, the faster you type, the higher the bird flies and you need to adjust your speed according to the placement of the pipes. Type slowly if the pipe openings are too low and faster when the next one is high. By the end of the game you would have either mastered typing without looking at your keyboard, or may have smashed it completely.</div>

<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
The game is available for Android and iOS both and sees you playing a superhero. You need to fly the character in between crate boxes, but again, this is easier said than done. Unlike Flappy Bird, where you need to tap on the screen to make the birdie fly, you need to hold onto the screen to have Ironpants soar. To make him descend enough to go between crates, you need to let go of the screen.</div>

The premise is exactly the same as Flappy Bird, you need to have a cupid run between pillars without touching it. The only difference between the games is that Flappy Bird ensured you’re not distracted, except for an occasional banner ad, Amazing Cupid will make sure you are distracted, with the funnies speech bubbles, throughout your turn.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If you fail and fall, the game will tell you things like “No wonder you’re lonely.” During an intense game, the cupid will inform you that Amazing Cupid was inspired by Flappy Bird, but on steroids. You might just want to leave the game alone and read the funny one liners. <strong style="border: 0px; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">Badland:</strong></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
If you’ve played Jetpack Joyride in the past and have loved it, this game is for you. Unlike Flappy Bird, you do not die if you touch anything here and there’s not just one type of obstacle in Badland. While you had to dodge pipes, you have to dodge multiple obstacles like falling stones, windmills and more. The challenge here is not to be pushed down by the obstacle since it’s a sidescrolling game. If you lose the screen, you lose the game.</div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">
That aside, Badland is possibly the best replacement for Flappy Bird you might get. The game is over 150MB in size, but worth it since it has some stunning graphics. You play a bird, which in the atmospheric game is merely a silhouette, as are your obstacles. These are placed against colourful backgrounds that make the game a lot more beautiful to look at. There's no shortage of music subscription services that offer unlimited streaming for a monthly fee. The conceit of the latest offering, Beats Music, is that its playlists and other recommendations are curated by warm-blooded humans, not robots.<div style="outline: none;">
As CEO Ian Rogers proclaims, "Algorithms can do 'sounds like.' They can't do 'feels like.'"</div>
</div>
<div style="outline: none;">
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">Beats Music comes from Beats Electronics, the headphone-maker backed by hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre and former music executive Jimmy Iovine.</span></span></div>
<div style="outline: none;">
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="outline: none;">
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">For $10 a month, you get unlimited streaming and song downloading for offline listening. Downloaded songs expire once you cancel the subscription. AT&T customers are also eligible for a $15-a-month family plan for as many as five family members. You can sign up for a 90-day free trial, but there's no free, ad-supported version like some of its rivals.</span></span></div>
<div style="outline: none;">
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="outline: none;">
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">Beats Music has its roots in the MOG streaming service, which Beats Electronics bought in 2012. Beats Music has a more playful interface than MOG, which was mostly utilitarian. Beats also introduces a few ways to discover both new and old material.</span></span></div>
<div style="outline: none;">
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="outline: none;">
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">Apps Android, iOS, and Windows Phone are available now. Computer users can listen through their Web browser. And like other streaming services, you can choose specific songs, albums or artists on your own. Beats Music has a catalog of more than 20 million songs, which is comparable to its rivals.</span></span></div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
I began by going through a get-to-know-you sequence for new users, picking a few genres and artists I like. Somewhat flustered by the scarcity of choices, I picked "Sting," "Katy Perry" and "Harry Connick Jr." and the genre "Pop." I'm glad I was discerning about these choices (redoing them several times), because eventually I was presented with something I liked.</div>
<span class="mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image" style="color: #4e4e4e; display: inline; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;"><img alt="beats_music_screenshot_ap.jpg" class="mt-image-center" height="512" src="http://cdn.ndtv.com/tech/images/gadgets/beats_music_screenshot_ap.jpg" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 20px; outline: none; text-align: center;" width="288" /></span><br />
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
The Beats Music app tries to take the information you enter in order to present you with a variety of albums and playlists that are "Just For You."</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
Another section for recommendations, dubbed "The Sentence," prompts you to fill in blanks to establish what you'd like to hear, but you end up with silly sentences like "I'm in the shower & feel like ordering in with my family to Indie." It's reminiscent of Allrecipes' "Dinner Spinner" except I'm not sure what ingredients I'm adding in. I mostly skipped this game because I found the resulting choices to be far too random.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
Another "Highlights" section made more sense, like a playlist of the "2014 Grammy Winners."</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
One recommendation I liked from the "Just For You" section was a playlist called "Young Lovers Heartbreak Mix." If you have a rainy day - or in drought-plagued Los Angeles, at least a few hours with nothing better to do - it's worth a listen.</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
The 25-song, 96-minute playlist starts off slowly with the piano ballad "Say Something" by A Great Big World. It builds gradually, ramping up with the rise-from-the-ashes fourth song "Skyscraper" by Demi Lovato. It hits a crescendo between songs 13 and 14, when "Don't Speak," Gwen Stefani's 1996 hit with her band, No Doubt, crashes into Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" from last year. Somewhat appropriately, the playlist ends with Taylor Swift's power recovery song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."</div>
<span class="mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image" style="color: #4e4e4e; display: inline; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;"><img alt="beats_music_screenshot_playstore.JPG" class="mt-image-center" height="271" src="http://cdn.ndtv.com/tech/images/gadgets/beats_music_screenshot_playstore.JPG" style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 20px; outline: none; text-align: center;" width="635" /></span><br />
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
The app says the playlist was created by "Beats Pop," but the curator was actually Arjan Timmermans, the popular blogger behind ArjanWrites.com. Hired as the head of pop and dance programming at Beats Music last year, Timmermans is one of nine real people who put some 5,000 playlists together for Beats Music. (Neither Dre nor Iovine are among them).</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
The playlist was designed for "a teenager who got their heart broken for the first time," Timmermans said in an interview. The songs - a mix of hits by current teen idols and breakup classics like "Don't Speak" - are meant to work together emotionally, he said, telling the listener, "It's OK to be sad, but I can move through this."</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
The playlist has a beginning, middle and an end and runs about as long as a movie. And I found that some songs' lyrics work together back-to-back, like the way Stefani's line "don't tell me cause it hurts" runs into Cyrus' "don't you ever say I just walked away, I will always want you."</div>
<div style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; outline: none;">
That's a link I don't see a machine making these days. For people, it's probably a subconscious connection buried deep down there somewhere.</div>
<span style="color: #4e4e4e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px;">I am no teenager anymore, am happily married and am not the playlist's presumptive audience. But as a sampling of what Beats Music has to offer, it shows me this app has a soul.</span></div>
