Aditya 0 Comparision, Gadgets, Moto G, Motorola, Reviews, Smartphone, Technology, Xolo, Xolo Q1100 8.2.14

The Motorola Moto G is currently enjoying being the center of attraction in the mid-range mobile market, but another affordable device that goes by the name of Xolo Q1100 has arrived to hog a bit of its spotlight. Both the devices have a number of similar features and hence, we have pitted the two against each other to figure out which one you should go for.

The Xolo smartphone has only been unveiled in India and we are yet to hear something about its availability details. And as for the Motorola gadget, it hit pre-order status earlier this week and its first stock has already been sold out too. After the break, we have jotted down a detailed report of the specifications of the devices, so take a look.

Motorola Moto G:

The Moto G brings a set of advanced features for an economical price. Its front panel has been fitted with a 4.5-inch multi-touch screen capable of rendering HD visuals in 1280 x 720p resolution as well as 1.3MP webcam. And on the flip side you will find a 5MP camera complete with flash and auto focus amongst other things.

It has been powered by the Android Jelly Bean 4.3 OS and the gadget has already started receiving the KitKat update as well. A quad core processor sprinting at 1.2GHz as well as 1GB of RAM are responsible for facilitating multitasking, while a 2070mAh battery shoulders the responsibility of keeping it powered up for almost an entire day.

A quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor resides within this smartphone as well and 1GB of RAM can also be found. Also, its total internal memory amounts to 8GB and you get the option of increasing it further by up to 32GB using a microSD card.

Micromax LapTab vs. Xolo Win: Which one’s better?

Micromax and Xolo are two of the biggest smartphone makers in India and arch rivals and coincidentally, both companies chose CES as the platform to release their respective 10.1-inch tablets. While the LapTab is a dual OS device that makes the most of both the Windows and Android platforms, the Win slate has acquired certification only from Microsoft. Let’s take a look at their features separately to find out which is the better gadget.
Xolo has partnered with AMD for this tablet and you will find an A4-1200 dual core processor within the device. The Win tablet also features dual cameras, a 1MP webcam and a 2MP snapper and 32GB of internal memory which is further expandable. This device too has a 10.1-inch touchscreen, however, this one is deployed with the IPS technology and has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels.
You get only a single 2MP webcam and its 32GB internal memory can be expanded further by up to 64GB. The company, which has always tried to position itself as a slightly more premium brand in India than the competition, unveiled the Xolo Win at CES in Las Vegas.

With no pictures to go on, we have no idea of how the tablet looks. It is definitely a middle of the road offering, but it’s a first for Xolo, which has launched Nvidia, Broadcom, Intel, Qualcomm and MediaTek-powered devices in the past. Targeted at young working professionals, the Win is powered by a dual-core AMD A4 Elite Mobility processor (Temash generation) clocked at 1.0 GHz and makes use of Radeon HD 8180 GPU for graphics. It has a 10.1” display with a resolution of 1366x768 pixels and 2GB of RAM. Internal storage is 32GB EMMC, but there’s no word on whether this can be expanded. It sounds very basic and hopefully this will mean a lower price tag.

Being a Windows tablet, it will have all the apps and games that one expects from a PC. The product will hit the stores starting India by the end of this month. Xolo has not announced the price, but we expect it to be somewhere in the Rs 20,000-22,000 range.

Xolo’s announcement comes a day after Micromax announced the Canvas LapTab, which dual boots Android and Windows 8. So it looks like the Indian rivals are finally looking at Windows as the next battleground. With the competition Android smartphone market is far from cooling down, a Windows-sized distraction is not exactly the need of the day.
